Tapiture’s Love My Jimmy reels off third straight win in Phoenix Gold Cup

Love My Jimmy got the lead very early in the March 14 Phoenix Gold Cup at Turf Paradise and never looked back as he rolled home a 1 ¾-length winner in the six-furlong race.

After a contested first quarter-mile, Love My Jimmy pulled clear of his 11 competitors around the turn and came into the stretch with a three-length advantage. He was comfortably ahead the rest of the way to win handily in 1:08.16 on a fast track.

The 6-year-old bay has kicked off 2024 with three straight wins and has compiled and overall record of 12-5-3 in 30 lifetime starts for his owners Rosette Ranch, LLC and Chase Goodnight.

Love My Jimmy was bred in Kentucky by Dr. Brad Tanner and is out of the unraced Shackleford mare Clemency, whose dam was the champion Older Mare of 1998 Escena.

Tapiture, who stands for $7,500 S&N this year, has accounted for five stakes horses in 2024. Annually a top 10 sire of winners, Tapiture has 37 to date this season.
